Kriya Yoga FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions on our Kriya Yoga Seminars

1) What is taught in the Kriya Yoga Seminars?

The techniques taught in Lahiri Mahasaya’s lineage are handed down to the participants systematically over three levels. These techniques comprise of pranayama (breathing techniques), Dyana (meditation techniques) and mudras. The most important is Shiva Shakti Pranayama (Please see the article ‘The Science of Kriya Yoga’ in our website).

which is for spiritual evolution is taught in Level 1. Therefore, the Level 1 seminar is already very powerful by itself. The techniques taught in Levels 2 and 3 further enhances the Kriya Yoga practices to accelerate One’s spiritual progress.

In level 1, about 9 pranayama (breathing techniques), Dyana (meditation techniques) and mudras will be taught.

In Level 2, in addition to the techniques, the participants will be initiated into the Maha Mitrunjaya mantra to protect them from disasters or accidents which may shorten One’s life. It is prayer to Lord Shiva to protect us so that we have sufficient time in this life to achieve significant progress in our spiritual practice.

3) How many levels are there in Kriya Yoga?

There are 3 levels.

2) Is it necessary to attend all three levels together?

No it is not necessary. The most important technique in Kriya Yoga has already been taught in Level 1. Levels 2 and 3 add on techniques to accelerate our spiritual progress. However, the techniques taught in Level 1 are already very powerful by themselves.

4) How much fee will be charged for the seminars?

The fee for each seminar is RM200. You can attend the same seminar again the following years for free.

5) Will I see immediate progress?

This will depend on each participant. Some participants experience visions and feelings in their chakras during the seminars itself. These participants must have practiced Kriya Yoga before in their previous life and are just ready to continue their practice in the current life. Some may only experience them after a few months of practice. Nevertheless, in Kriya Yoga, our emphasis is on spiritual evolution. In other words, the development of wisdom and the strengthening of our awareness and mental faculties are more important than visions or other experiences. Having said this, many found that Kriya Yoga practices helps them to become more energetic and healthy. Paramhansa Yogananda said that the practice of pranayama fills our bodies with so much electricity that harmful viruses and bacteria cannot affect us.

6) How is the Kriya Yoga taught by Rudra Shivananda different from those taught by other teachers?

We cannot comment on the teachings of other teachers. Different people are drawn towards different teachers due to their karmic affinity. The techniques taught by Rudraji are those handed down from Lahiri Mahasaya.  Rudraji was initiated into Kriya Yoga by Yogiraj Siddhanath who was in turn initiated by direct disciples of Sri Yukteswar, the beloved disciple of Lahiri Mahasaya and Guru to Paramhansa Yogananda.
